A circus show about circus itself. Diving into metalinguistics, the artists draw inspiration from their training journeys and the very meaning of what circus is today. They share with the audience their desires, questions, and satisfactions as artists: multiple, diverse, antagonistic, and erratic. They choose to explore various circus aesthetics, questioning what truly constitutes it. Tightrope walking, juggling, acrobatics, and live music are techniques used to present a circus that is alive, shining, thoughtful, uncertain, and open to the world, its history, and the present moment. A circus that challenges itself and keeps discovering.
Selected by the Programa RUMOS Itaú Cultural, the project enabled the completion of the creation of the show Sobrevoltas and allowed it to tour five circus schools from the north to the south of the country with training activities and experience exchanges. Its official premiere took place in June 2017 at CIRCOS – Festival Internacional SESC de Circo in São Paulo, and it participated in the main circus festivals in Brazil (Recife, Piracicaba, Santa Maria, and Londrina).
